Justice Wake Up is a student-led society at the British School of Bucharest. We meet to talk, read, research and make things together, and everyone is welcome: girls and boys, every year group, every nationality.
What we focus on
The history of women's rights. The right to study, to vote and to earn a living was won step by step, by real people. We want to know who they were.
Stereotypes, recognised and challenged. “Girls are bad at maths.” “Boys don't cry.” We look at where clichés come from and how to answer them, calmly and with facts.
Projects for the whole school. Talks, displays, assemblies and this blog.
What happens at a meeting
Someone brings a story, a question or a short article, and we talk about it. Sometimes we plan a project for the school. You don't need to know anything about feminism to come along: curiosity is enough.
How to join
Fill in the form on our home page and one of the society leaders will email you about the next meeting.
